You can never know what kind of content your children may access if you leave them alone. It is next to impossible to keep an eye on them at all times, but when they use your computer, you can at least use special applications to prevent them from accessing harmful content. This is where Control Kids will help you. It prevents children from accessing questionable or inappropriate content. Unlike other parental control tools, this one does not require any configurations. You just need to install it and let it work.

You can set up Control Kids on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 and it will take only a few seconds. The entire process is straightforward, so you can just click the Next button continuously, until the software is up and running. When you launch the application for the first time, you will have to create a new password.

Control Kids has many advantages. The first thing that you should know is that you will not have to make any configurations related to your Internet connection, you will not have to specify any servers or anything else. There are no confusing options to go through and you will not have to experiment with any functions. In fact, there is not even an interface to interact with.

You just need to launch the application and it will block all suspicious web sites, pornographic content and more. It supports all web browsers, so your kids will have no way of bypassing the application. If they attempt to visit a web site with inappropriate content, Control Kids will detect it immediately. Instead of loading the web site, your browser displays a notification telling that the parental control software has blocked the site.

If you want to access certain content yourself, while your kids are not around, you may disable the parental control feature. Just right click the application's system tray icon, select the Stop option and type in your password. Reactivating the feature can be done the same way. Control Kids is not listed in the Windows uninstaller. You can remove the application only by clicking the Uninstall option, after right clicking the system tray icon.

Pros

You just need to install and run Control Kids to block any suspicious or inappropriate web site. You can enable and disable the parental control function at any time, if you type in your password. The application is compatible with all web browsers and you will not have to make any kind of configurations. Another advantage is the fact that Control Kids is 100% freeware.

Cons

Although the lack of an interface and settings is an advantage, the possibility of compiling an exceptions list would have been useful. You don't need to worry about your children while Control Kids is running on your computer. It will block any harmful content, on any web browser, without the need to make any initial configurations.
